When Jesus left the temple for the last time His disciples came and drew His attention to the beautiful temple; one of the most beautiful structures in the world. Some of the stones were 24 feet by eight by eight feet. Jesus said the time would come when there would not be one stone on another that would not be thrown down. What a shocking thing to say of the temple that had taken 40 years to build.

The disciples asked what shall be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world. The thought was that something destructive was surely the end of all things.

The temple service with the sacrifice of animals all pointed to Jesus who would be the True Sacrifice for sin in man's place. Once Jesus was dead there would be no more need for any animal sacrifices or of the temple itself. God allowed it to be destroyed 40 years after the crucifixion.

The disciples asked what the sign was for the end of the world. Jesus gave them a list of things that would happen before His coming. He said many impostors would come and say that they are Christ. He told them about deception, of wars, of rumours of wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes and many other problems. He talked of the gospel the story of His birth, His life, His walk, teaching, healing love and forgiveness, His death and resurrection, and His coming again. These would be told in all the world and then the end would come.

Daniel the prophet says of the time leading to the end. People will run to and fro and knowledge would be increased. We have seen an increase in knowledge in every phase of life over the past 150 years. Some for good and some not. Knowledge in travel, health and medicine but also knowledge in ways of destruction, things like bombs for killing people and methods of deception.

Jesus said in Matthew 24, as it was in the days of Noah so shall it be in the days before the Son of man comes. In Genesis it describes the days of Noah and it says the minds of men were only evil continually. Is this something we can identify with? Some of the things on TV and the Internet, what are our children and young people watching as they grow up, what are they filling their curious minds with?

The days of Noah, the Bible says, the earth was filled with violence. Did they know something we don't know? Watch the news in the morning from Vancouver, almost always somebody has been shot or stabbed, dead bodies found somewhere, school shootings in different parts of the country, shoes on the beach with feet still in them, suicide bombings, family and gang violence, and drugs, just to name a few.

The Bible says the earth was also corrupt before God. Today we see corruption everywhere. The more ways we find to communicate the more corruption we see like governments around the world to people trying to scam money for what? Who and what can we trust anymore?

Jesus warned against false teachings and beliefs. With so many different ideas around, the prophet said we should study the Word! He says here a little and there a little and find what the word teaches by putting the different parts of the same topic together and get the true meaning of what the Word of God is saying.

In the book of Revelation, John says, “satan is going around like a roaring lion trying to confuse people because He knows he does not have much time left. This is a good reason to find out what is truth and what the word of God really says. Satan is a very clever, deceitful foe but God is Love and He wants all to be saved so we need to know what is right so we can make right choices.
