GOD'S SECRETS REVEALED
When John sat on the island Jesus came and talked to him and gave him instructions about the seven churches. When John had completed the letters in Revelation 4 John says he saw a door open and he was in a vision in the throne room, in Heaven. It was very much like the vision Daniel had (Daniel 7:9,10) where he saw God on His throne and all these beings and angels around the throne and He says the judgment was set and the books were opened.
The books are the life records of people who live on earth. The beings around the throne are beings from other planets in the universe. When lucifer, now satan, in Heaven wanted the power God had, he spread a lot of false accusations among the angels and also among the inhabitants in the universe. He thought, as did the party leaders in our recent election, if he could get the majority of support from the angels and the other beings he could force God out of power.
In order to do this he had to make himself look better than God so they would agree with him that he would make a better universal administrator. Satan was cast out of Heaven but what about the lies he had spread? Did many beings wonder about them and when they hear of the things going on in this world what are they thinking?
God voluntarily put Himself on trial so beings could come and find out for themselves the real truth of the Master. Like an earthly court, people go to find out what really happened to their loved ones. When John looked here, he also saw 24 elders sitting around the throne.
Who were they? When Jesus rose from the tomb, the scripture says many of the saints arose and went into the city. Many people saw them. These went up to Heaven when Jesus did and now they are at the court to witness to the universe of the goodness of God and how He helped them to overcome sin and live a righteous, happy life.
Then John saw something else. He saw four creatures around the throne. One looked like a lion, one like an ox, one like a man and one like a flying eagle. What really caught John's attention was that these four creatures were full of eyes, back, front, everywhere. There is nothing that can escape being seen by that kind of a creature.
What does this mean? If the creature sees everything it also knows everything. These creatures can only represent Jesus. In Psalms, David the psalmist says when God judges His people He will take everything into account like where the person was born, when he or she lived, what the conditions were like, what chances he or she had in life.
The four beasts represent three classes of people. The lion, a king, ruler, power, authority, wealth. The ox was at that time a beast used for work to plow the field, haul wagon loads of goods, basically a servant. The man, a middle class person like most of us. The flying eagle soars high and looks at what is going on not sideways as we see things but from on high where he sees things from every angle. When a kings name comes up ruler wealth Jesus can identify with the one. Rulers are seen as rich and powerful and they have the easy life but that is not always the case.
They go through difficult times. If anything goes wrong they get the blame. They are hated, lied about life, threatened, and or killed. Jesus went through all that. He was there so He can be a righteous judge for He has perfect understanding of the situation. In this time of problems in the world, especially His people he wants us to trust Him as He not only sees the big picture but creates it.
On November 7, 8, 9, at the civic centre 7pm, we will look at what Jesus has told us about the times we are living in through the prophecies in God's word. We invite you to come and join us as we open the Bible's unfailing word of the Lord.
