Leaving nothing behind.

Here we are in the month of July and the weather is abnormally cold. Regardless of the weather we have a lot to be thankful for. God is good and He loves us! He provides the dailies of life and provides His word that tells us of His love and sacrifice. He paid for our salvation.

In the world today I see God reaching out to all people by showing His power and protective care. The largest tornado eating a path or destruction 300 yards wide and 6+ miles long, leaving nothing behind. Schools, churches, businesses, houses, everything destroyed and yet there were such a small number of people killed in comparison to the huge destruction. Here we see His power to destroy but also His power to save.

The word says that all have sinned. ALL of us. That means all have violated God's word. His word says that the wages of sin is death. That means that we've earned what we get. That's it....or is it? The word also says, “But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord.”

Why is He so good to us? What is His motive?

He then says, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” Not one but all ten so then we can have peace and assurance for the future.

According to His word we have not seen the worst of the world's problems. Jesus went through all the same problems that we have. Why? The word says that He went through these things for the joy that was set before Him. What joy? Jesus saw beyond His day to the future when people will have accepted Him, serve Him because they love Him, safe in His kingdom, Heaven.

This will bring Him joy (and us too) when we will be together with Him and many others who have chosen Him above the things of this world. Eternal peace in the place He is preparing for us.
