Hope for Our Time

week 7

Jesus said, “I have come that they might have life and have it more abundantly.”

Jesus was talking to the Jews. They had life but they thought that the abundance of life consisted of life and their rounds of communities. Jesus said there is a lot more to life than that and that is what He came to show them. To show them that they lived in a small, self-centred world and that God's abundant life took in the poor, the rich, other nations and had a genuine love for God and not just show business.

He showed them that life, health and happiness were an inside experience that came from helping others and not only of their own people. All this has not changed much.

The mission He gave to His church was to go into all the world and tell all of Jesus' love, His return, and a new home in Heaven. But, talk is cheap so Jesus demonstrated His love. He wants this demonstrated to the world today. According to the prophets and Jesus' words, we are living in the closing days of earth's history. He wants all, regardless of who they are or where they live, to be able to make a choice and be able to live for Jesus and have the abundant life.
