Hope for Our Time

week 2

In the book of Matthew it says that Jesus came to save His people from their sins. Sin is a wrong doing. Most always it has its roots in selfishness and this can cause all kinds of problems.

Jesus had two things in mind when He came to save us from our sin. One was to give us eternal life but also to give us a better, happier life here. To one man whom He healed He said, “Go and sin no more lest a worse thing come upon you.” It had been his lifestyle that had made him sick.

To another whom He healed He said, “Thy sins be forgiven.” His sickness was also the result of his sinful life.

To the woman taken in adultery He said, “Has anyone condemned you?” she said, “No.” then He said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.”

Jesus is not in the business to condemn but to lift us up and save. She left Jesus with a happy, thankful heart and she changed her lifestyle. She was the one who anointed Jesus with the costly ointment while He was attending a dinner. She was the last one to see Him in the tomb after His death. She was the first at the tomb Sunday morning and she was the first woman Jesus talked to after His resurrection. Jesus honoured her for what she was, regardless of what she had been.

Jesus loves the sinner not the sin. He wants us to be healthy, happy and free from feeling guilt so we can enjoy life here, bring glory to His name and be ready for Heaven and life with Jesus and the angels when He comes.

He is always here to help us with our problems. We have a wonderful saviour!!
