God's Secrets Revealed

The second coming of Jesus and the resurrection happen at the same time. In the Bible, these events have been mentioned about fifteen hundred times in the old and new Testaments. The Lord must think this is a very important event to mention it so often. He must not want us to miss it.

The apostle Paul says, “The wages of sin is death.” Jesus came the first time to pay the death penalty for all who have accepted His offer, asked for forgiveness and put away sin and changed his or her life. For all who have lived since Jesus' time, including me and you, He prepaid for our sins (if we have confessed, put out of our lives and lived for Him). What a great, loving Saviour! He paid the biggest price that could possibly be paid. He laid down His life. What a value He has put on the people who He has created in His own image.

The signs that are around us that tell us His coming is near, bring up another question...How will He come?

Jesus tells us there will be differences of opinions about His coming but He knows how He will come and of the false predictions that will come up. Jesus says in Matthew 24, “If any man shall say unto you Lo here is Christ or there believe it not.” He said there will arise false Christ's and false prophets and shall even show signs and wonders but Jesus cautions, “Do not believe them.”

Then Jesus says, “If someone says 'He is in the desert' don't go looking for Him. Some say 'He is in a secret place.' Believe it not for the second coming of Jesus will not in any way be secret.”

In Matthew 24:27, Jesus says, “For as the lightening comes out of the east and shines even to the west, so shall the coming of the Son of man be.” With lightening there is always thunder. So, the coming of Jesus will be both audible and visible. Nothing secret.

In Revelation 1:7, John says, “Behold He cometh with clouds and every eye shall see Him and they also who pierced Him and all kindred of the earth shall wail because of Him.”

They were not expecting Him this way and were not prepared to meet Him but this does not have to be so. We can know what is coming and can prepare to meet Him. Before Jesus left to go back to Heaven He said, “I am going to prepare a place for you then I will come back to take you to Heaven with Me. People believed Him but they thought He would come in a few years in their life time. Now people were dying and Jesus had not come so they wondered about those who had died.

The apostle Paul says, “I want you to be well informed about those who have fallen asleep, for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again so also those who are asleep in Jesus will He take with Him when He returns.

Paul continues that we have this word from the Lord that the Lord shall descend from Heaven with a shout and with the trumpet of God. It will be then that the dead in Christ shall rise first, when Jesus comes and all the angels with Him with their trumpets blaring. When Jesus called Lazarus from the tomb He said in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” Now He shouts as He descends from Heaven and this opens the graves of the dead in Christ and they will rise first.

In Matthew 24, Jesus, talking about His coming says that He will send His angels to gather those who have been resurrected. Here is sounds like Jesus will gather all who have ever lived for Jesus to a central place, including all the living. The righteous will be brought there too. What a gathering and what a reunion. Can you see yourself in that group? The angels will bring family members together. It is difficult to imagine this in one's mind but it is something Jesus has planned.

It will happen. Jesus never fails.

Next week we will have more on this wonderful event for God's faithful people, who believe and trust Him.
